Happy New Year!

It's been a minute since I updated the blog. October, November and December were so busy that I haven't really had a moment to slow down and write about it all. Here's a little roundup of some of the cool things that rounded out 2021 at MLDM:

In October and November, our writers' workshop group The Quill & Pint ran National Novel Writing Month events for the Burbank Public Library, which was a blast! Here's Bryan, Erik and me showing off the cool prize packages that the library provided to some of our NaNoWriMo Write-In challenge winners!

Early November brought the Burbank Art Association Fall Show - the first show the BAA has really been able to put on in almost completely normal (though masked) fashion since 2019! You can see photos of the show HERE. My oil painting "The Witch's Study" placed Honorable Mention in the Still Life category.

In November I also attended The International Printing Museum's Printer's Fair along with my favorite guy, The Typin' Pint. It was fun to get out and vend again, and the Printers' Fair is always a great event to be a part of – an awesome community of creatives and enthusiasts! And it was nice to see people again!

In December we joined in at the Winter Market at As We Dwell, in the Los Angeles Arts district. It was a lovely holiday fair! In a departure from my oil paintings, I took to acrylics to make little hand-painted wooden ornaments.

(These events were, of course, before Omicron set in ...)

I also completed two oil painting pet portraits that were given as holiday gifts: Hiccup the cat, and Daisy the dog!

So now the hustle and bustle of the last several months is past, and the quiet contemplation of January has set in. It's the perfect time for writing and reflection, and I've been doing a lot of both.

I have some awesome things on deck for 2022, and I can't wait to share them, but for the moment, I have to. OH THE SUSPENSE! But I promise you, it's super rad!!!

I hope your 2022 finds you safe, healthy, and as happy as possible given the weirdness that is the world these days. Here's to the possibilities of a new year!
